# Scenes & Helpers

# Helpers

## Overview

15 helper entities are configured via the UI (storage-based). They provide state storage, boolean flags, timers, person tracking, and geographic zones used by automations and dashboards.

---

## Boolean Helpers

### Guest Mode
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `input_boolean.guest_mode` |
| Icon | `mdi:account-group` |
| Default | on |
| Purpose | Flag indicating guests are present; can be used to adjust automations (e.g., suppress alarms, adjust lighting) |

---

## Number Helpers (Irrigation Watering Duration)

Four `input_number` helpers store the duration of the last watering run for each Front Yard irrigation zone. Values are set by irrigation tracking automations.

| Entity | Zone | Range | Unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| `input_number.front_planters_last_run_duration` | Front Planters | 0–480 | min |
| `input_number.front_yard_shrubs_last_run_duration` | Front Yard Shrubs | 0–480 | min |
| `input_number.front_fence_planters_last_run_duration` | Front Fence Planters | 0–480 | min |
| `input_number.side_yard_garden_bed_last_run_duration` | Side Yard Garden Bed | 0–480 | min |

All use `box` mode (manual entry) and 0.1 step.

---

## Date/Time Helpers (Last Watered Timestamps)

Four `input_datetime` helpers store the last watered date and time for each irrigation zone.

| Entity | Zone |
|---|---|
| `input_datetime.front_planters_last_watered` | Front Planters |
| `input_datetime.front_yard_shrubs_last_watered` | Front Yard Shrubs |
| `input_datetime.front_fence_planters_last_watered` | Front Fence Planters |
| `input_datetime.side_yard_garden_bed_last_watered` | Side Yard Garden Bed |

All have both date and time enabled (`has_date: true, has_time: true`).

---

## Timer Helpers

### Garage Light Timer
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `timer.garage_light_timer` |
| Duration | 20 minutes |
| Restore | false |
| Purpose | Auto-off timer for garage lights; started when motion or door triggers lights |

---

## Button Helpers

### Bin Button
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `input_button.bin_button` |
| Icon | `mdi:gesture-tap-button` |
| Purpose | Virtual button — likely triggers a garbage/recycling reminder or related action |

---

## Zones

Two named geographic zones in addition to the default Home zone:

### Work
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `zone.work` |
| Latitude | 43.641442 |
| Longitude | -79.377578 |
| Radius | 47 m |
| Icon | `mdi:briefcase` |
| Purpose | Presence tracking — Rajeev at downtown Toronto office |

### Rajeeta Home
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `zone.rajeeta_home` |
| Latitude | 43.656839 |
| Longitude | -79.383613 |
| Radius | 46 m |
| Icon | `mdi:account` |
| Purpose | Tracks when Rajeev is at Rajeeta's home location |

---

## Person

### Rajeev Iyer
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Entity | `person.rajeev_iyer` |
| User | `9c38d44ad18d49fbb4a18e892d4d8634` |
| Tracked devices | Iceheart (iPhone), Bacta (iPad), Krytos (iPad) |
| Current state | home |

The person entity aggregates location across all three mobile devices. Home/not_home state is determined by GPS proximity to the Home zone.

---

## Notes

- The `input_datetime` and `input_number` helpers for watering are **write-only from automations** — do not manually edit them unless correcting erroneous data.
- `input_boolean.guest_mode` is currently `on` (guests present). Remember to turn it off after guests leave if automations depend on this flag.
- Zones use lat/long from when they were created — verify they still accurately represent the locations if addresses change.

## DLNA

Three DLNA DMS (media server) entries for the **Lusankya** NAS (3× UPnP discovery instances), plus a Giga Hub entry and HDHomeRun DMS.

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Samsung Frame 55 is registered three times — use `samsungtv_smart` as the primary control path; the native `samsungtv` entry may conflict.
- Music Assistant and Alexa Devices both register `media_player` entities for Echo devices — this creates duplicate entities. Use the MA entity for music control and the Alexa entity for TTS announcements.
- Apple TV integration can lose connection when the TV enters deep sleep; a retry is handled automatically.

### Key Entities

Each Emporia circuit exposes power (`sensor.*.power`) and energy (`sensor.*.energy_today`) sensors.

Notable:
- `sensor.cornell_vue_energy_today` — daily whole-home energy usage
- `sensor.ac_power` — HVAC power draw
- `sensor.furnace_power` — heating power

---

## CO2 Signal (Electricity Maps)

**Integration:** `co2signal` | **Device:** Electricity Maps

Provides real-time electricity grid carbon intensity data for the Ontario grid region.

| Entity | Notes |
|---|---|
| `sensor.electricity_maps_*` | Grid carbon intensity (gCO2eq/kWh) |

Useful for automations that shift non-essential loads to low-carbon grid hours.

---

## Ontario Energy Board

**Integration:** `ontario_energy_board` (HACS) | **Authors:** jrfernandes, n3rdp1um23

Provides Ontario Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity pricing data:
- On-peak, mid-peak, off-peak rate selectors
- Schedule-aware — useful for automations that avoid running high-draw appliances during on-peak hours

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Emporia Vue uses a cloud API — if Emporia cloud is down, data will be unavailable. Historical data is stored in HA's recorder database.
- For long-term storage and visualization, Emporia data flows into **InfluxDB** (add-on) and is visualized in **Grafana** (add-on).
- The HA Energy dashboard can be configured to use `sensor.cornell_vue_energy_today` as the grid consumption source.

## Version Monitoring

Two `version` integration entries track HA version:
- `Current Version` — tracks the installed HA Core version
- `Docker Hub` — tracks the latest available version (for update notifications)

**Entity:** `binary_sensor.home_assistant_version_docker_hub_update_available`

---

## InfluxDB & Grafana

**Add-ons:** InfluxDB v5.0.2 | Grafana v12.1.0

Long-term time-series storage (InfluxDB) and visualization (Grafana) for HA sensor data. Configured separately from HA's built-in recorder. Provides historical energy, climate, and sensor dashboards beyond what the HA frontend offers.

---

## iBeacon Tracker

**Integration:** `ibeacon` | **Status:** loaded

Passive BLE iBeacon tracking. Multiple `TELEMATIC-*` and vehicle-related iBeacon devices are detected in the environment (Rivian Phone Key, NIU scooter, vehicle telematics).

> Most iBeacon devices visible in the registry are external/neighbouring devices detected passively, not intentionally tracked assets. The Rivian Phone Key (`Rivian Phone Key DEEC`) is the most relevant.

---

## Mobile App

**Integration:** `mobile_app` | **3 registered devices**

| Device | Model | OS |
|---|---|---|

## Pushover

**Integration:** `pushover` | **Status:** loaded

Push notification service as an alternative to the mobile app. Used for alerts where broader notification reach is needed.

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- Mosquitto, Zigbee2MQTT, and MQTT integration must all be running for Zigbee to work. If any component restarts, the others may need re-initialization.
- NUT add-on version in the device registry shows v0.18.0 — this reflects the add-on version installed; the actual nut package may be newer.
- InfluxDB and Grafana are community add-ons (a0d7b954 repository) — they receive updates separately from core HA.

# Matter & Aqara

## Overview

Matter is handled by the **Matter Server add-on** (v9.0.2). The Aqara ecosystem provides the majority of Matter-bridged devices — two hubs bridge 15+ Aqara devices (water leak sensors, motion sensors, smart locks, wireless switch, temp/humidity sensor) into Home Assistant.

## Matter Hubs

| Hub | Model | Firmware | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aqara Hub M2 | Aqara Hub M2 | 4.3.8 | Primary bridge hub (most devices) |
| Aqara Camera Hub G3 | Aqara Camera Hub G3 | 4.5.30 | Secondary bridge + camera |

Both hubs act as Thread/Matter border routers and connect to HA via the Matter integration.

## Matter Devices

### Via Aqara Hub M2

| Device | Model | Area |
|---|---|---|
| Aqara Water Leak Sensor (×4) | Aqara Water Leak Sensor (sw v6) | (unassigned — multiple locations) |
| Garage Smart Lock | Aqara Smart Lock U100 (sw 31) | Garage |

### Via Aqara Camera Hub G3

| Device | Model | Area |
|---|---|---|
| Aqara Water Leak Sensor (×2) | Aqara Water Leak Sensor (sw v6) | (unassigned) |
| Guest Bathroom Water Leak Sensor | Aqara Water Leak Sensor (sw v6) | Guest Bathroom |
| Bedroom Temp / Humidity Sensor | Aqara Temp/Humidity Sensor (sw v5) | Bedroom |
| Aqara Wireless Mini Switch | Aqara Wireless Mini Switch (sw v2) | (unassigned) |

| Downstairs Motion Sensor | Aqara Motion Sensor P1 (sw v10) | Media Room |
| Hallway Aqara Motion Sensor P1 | Aqara Motion Sensor P1 (sw v10) | Hallway |

## Key Entity Types

### Water Leak Sensors
Each sensor provides:
- `binary_sensor.*.water_leak` — triggers `Water Leak Alert` automation
- Battery sensors (CR2032 type, voltage, %)

**Deployed locations:** multiple bathroom, kitchen, utility areas (exact sensor-to-location mapping should be labelled on the physical devices).

### Motion Sensors (Aqara P1)
Each provides:
- `binary_sensor.*.occupancy` — used in motion lighting automations
- Battery sensors

| Sensor | Area | Automation |
|---|---|---|
| Upstairs Motion Sensor | Upstairs Hallway | Motion Activation Upstairs Hallway 2 |
| Garage Motion Sensor | Garage | Motion Activation Garage |
| Downstairs Motion Sensor | Media Room | — |
| Hallway Aqara Motion Sensor P1 | Hallway | Motion Activation Hallway Lights |

### Smart Locks (Aqara U100)

| Lock | Area | State |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen Smart Lock | Kitchen | locked |
| Garage Smart Lock | Garage | unlocked |

Both provide:
- `lock.*` control entity
- `binary_sensor.*_actuator` — physical bolt status
- Operating mode selector

**Automation:** `Smart Lock Unlocked 30 Min Alert` monitors all locks.

### Wireless Mini Switch (Aqara)
- `event.aqara_wireless_mini_switch_button` — single, double, long press events
- Area: unassigned (portable button)

## Thread

The Thread integration is loaded (entry: `890ec7b4`) and supports Thread networking. The Aqara hubs function as Thread border routers, enabling Thread-based device connectivity in future expansions.

## Notes / Gotchas

- If either Aqara hub goes offline, all devices bridged through it become unavailable in HA. The Hub M2 and Hub G3 are both critical infrastructure.
- The 4 unassigned water leak sensors should be physically labelled and area-assigned in HA (Settings → Devices) to improve observability.
- Kitchen Smart Lock shows `sw v300` while Garage Smart Lock shows `sw v31` — different firmware tracks (U100 has multiple hardware revisions).

*Living Room (T8416) and Basement (T8410) cameras are physically in those rooms but associated with the Eufy HomeBase in the Basement.

---

## Eufy Security

**Integration:** `eufy_security` (HACS) | **Host:** 127.0.0.1 | **Add-on:** eufy-security-ws v3.0.1

The Eufy integration connects via the local WebSocket server (eufy-security-ws add-on), providing camera streams and sensor data without relying on cloud.

### Infrastructure

| Device | Model | Firmware |
|---|---|---|
| Eufy HomeBase | T8030 | 3.8.3.4 |
| Eufy Passport | T87B2 | 1.5.6 |

> The HomeBase is the central hub for all Eufy cameras. It must be running for any Eufy entity to be available.

### Per-Camera Features

Each Eufy camera exposes:
- `camera.*` — live stream
- `image.*.event_image` — last motion event snapshot
- `alarm_control_panel.*` — arm/disarm (all currently `armed_home`)
- Motion detection switches (Human, Pet, Vehicle, etc.)
- Notification switches (Person, Pet, Crying, Sound)
- RTSP stream switch
- Microphone / Speaker switches (where applicable)
- Audio Recording switch

### Doorbells

| Device | Model | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Front Door | T8530 | Video doorbell; Front Yard area |
| Back door doorbell | T8214 | Video doorbell; Back door |
| Front Doorbell Chime | T8021 | Wireless chime; `alarm_control_panel.front_doorbell_chime` |

---

## Reolink

**Integration:** `reolink` (native HA) | **Source:** DHCP discovery

### Driveway Camera

- **Model:** Elite Pro Floodlight PoE
- **Firmware:** v3.2.0.5932_2601201959
- **Area:** Garage
- Entities: Driveway Fluent (RTSP), Driveway Floodlight, Driveway Siren, Driveway Volume, Vehicle/Person/Pet binary sensors, Infrared mode, AI Detection type selector, Motion sensitivity number

### Front Yard Camera

- **Model:** E1 Outdoor SE PoE
- **Firmware:** v3.1.0.5223_2510172104
- **Area:** Front Yard
- Entities: Front Yard Camera, Floodlight, Siren, Auto tracking, Guard return, AI detection, Motion sensitivity, FTP/Email/Push notification switches

---

## Frigate NVR

**Add-on:** `ccab4aaf_frigate` v0.17.1 | **State:** started

Frigate provides local real-time object detection for IP cameras using hardware-accelerated inference. It integrates with HA via the MQTT integration and the `frigate` integration (HACS).

> Frigate configuration (cameras, detectors, zones, objects) is managed in the Frigate add-on config file, not in HA directly.

---

## go2rtc & WebRTC

**go2rtc** is a built-in HA integration (system) that provides camera stream proxying, RTSP-to-WebRTC conversion, and low-latency viewing in the HA frontend.

**WebRTC Camera** (HACS, AlexxIT) provides enhanced WebRTC card support for dashboards.

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- All Eufy cameras depend on the HomeBase. Power-cycle or network loss of the HomeBase will take all Eufy entities offline simultaneously.
- Front Door (T8530) and Back Door Doorbell (T8214) have no area assignment — these should be added to appropriate areas for better dashboard organization.
- Reolink cameras are discovered via DHCP — ensure they have static IP reservations in the router to prevent config entry issues after reboots.
- The Eufy integration uses a local WebSocket bridge (eufy-security-ws) — avoid using the Eufy cloud app to log out or change account settings, as this can invalidate the local bridge credentials.

# Voice & AI Integrations

## Overview

The home runs a fully **local voice pipeline** using HA's Assist framework. All components — wake word detection, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and LLM conversation — run on local hardware with no cloud dependency. HA Cloud is also configured as a fallback/alternative.

## Voice Pipeline Architecture

```
Microphone (HA Voice PE)
       ↓
Wake Word: openWakeWord
       ↓
STT: Whisper (local) or Speech-to-Phrase (local) or HA Cloud
       ↓
Intent / LLM: Home Assistant Assist OR Ollama (qwen3:4b)
       ↓
TTS: Piper (local) or Google Translate or HA Cloud
       ↓
Speaker (HA Voice PE)
```

---

## Hardware

### Home Assistant Voice PE

**Device:** Home Assistant Voice 0919e8 | **Manufacturer:** Nabu Casa | **Model:** Home Assistant Voice PE | **ESPHome:** 2026.3.2 | **Area:** Bedroom

The dedicated voice satellite device for local Assist.

| Entity | Notes |
|---|---|
| `assist_satellite.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_assist_satellite` | Satellite control |
| `media_player.home_assistant_voice_0919e8` | Audio playback |
| `light.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_led_ring` | LED ring indicator |
| `switch.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_mute` | Microphone mute |

| `event.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_button_press` | Physical button |
| `select.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_assistant_2` | Pipeline selector |

---

## Wake Word Detection

**Add-on:** openWakeWord v2.1.0 | **Wyoming protocol**

openWakeWord is an open-source wake word detection library. It processes the audio stream locally to detect activation phrases before sending to STT.

| Integration | Entry |
|---|---|
| `wyoming` (openWakeWord) | `01KSAJTKT9G4SPH8F262Y0R656` |

**Entity:** `wake_word.openwakeword`

---

## Speech-to-Text (STT)

Two local STT options + HA Cloud:

| Option | Add-on | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Whisper** | core_whisper | 3.2.0 | General-purpose neural STT |
| **Speech-to-Phrase** | core_speech-to-phrase | 1.4.3 | Fast, intent-optimized local STT |
| **HA Cloud** | — | — | Nabu Casa cloud fallback |

**Recommended:** Speech-to-Phrase for speed; Whisper for accuracy with free-form speech.

---

## Text-to-Speech (TTS)

| Option | Add-on | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| **Piper** | core_piper v2.2.2 | Local neural TTS (English) |
| **Google Translate** | — | Cloud TTS (en-com) |
| **HA Cloud** | — | Nabu Casa cloud TTS |

**Entity:** `tts.piper`, `tts.google_translate_en_com`, `tts.home_assistant_cloud`

---

## Conversation / LLM

### Home Assistant (Assist)
**Entity:** `conversation.home_assistant` — built-in intent recognition for HA commands.

### Ollama (Local LLM)
**Integration:** `ollama` | **Host:** http://192.168.1.85:11434 | **Model:** qwen3:4b-instruct | **Firmware:** 4b-instruct

Ollama runs a local LLM on the home server at 192.168.1.85. The `qwen3` model (4B parameters, instruction-tuned) handles natural language conversations and complex commands beyond Assist's built-in intents.

**Entity:** `conversation.ollama_conversation`

> The Ollama server at 192.168.1.85 must be running for this conversation agent to be available. HA Assist falls back to the built-in agent if Ollama is unreachable.

---

## Home Assistant Cloud (Nabu Casa)

**Integration:** `cloud` | **Status:** loaded

Nabu Casa Cloud provides:
- Remote access (no port forwarding required)
- Cloud STT/TTS as fallbacks
- Google Assistant / Amazon Alexa voice control relay (if configured)
- Webhook relay for IFTTT and mobile notifications

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- The `select.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_assistant_2` entity allows switching the Voice PE between different conversation pipelines (e.g., Assist built-in vs Ollama).
- Whisper accuracy improves with higher model variants — the add-on may be configured with a small model for speed; check the add-on config for model selection.
- Speech-to-Phrase is purpose-built for HA commands and significantly faster than Whisper for home control tasks.
- Google Translate TTS requires internet access; Piper works fully offline.

# Zigbee — Zigbee2MQTT + ZHA + HA Connect ZBT-2

## Overview

Zigbee is the primary short-range wireless protocol for sensors and smart plugs. The home uses a single **HA Connect ZBT-2** USB stick as the Zigbee coordinator, running **Zigbee2MQTT** (the primary active stack). ZHA is also installed but is **disabled by the user** to avoid coordinator conflicts.

## Hardware

| Component | Details |
|---|---|
| Coordinator | Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 (Nabu Casa) |
| IEEE Address | `44:e2:f8:ff:fe:8c:7d:98` |
| Firmware | EmberZNet Zigbee 7.5.1.0 |
| Active Stack | Zigbee2MQTT 2.12.0 |
| Disabled Stack | ZHA (disabled_by: user) |

## Zigbee2MQTT

**Add-on version:** 2.12.0-1 | **Bridge device:** `723747744690709ec853190a975e567b`

Zigbee2MQTT communicates via the **Mosquitto MQTT broker** add-on. All Zigbee device data flows through MQTT topics.

### Zigbee2MQTT Devices

| Device | Manufacturer | Model | Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zigbee2MQTT Bridge | Zigbee2MQTT | Bridge | (system) |
| Bedroom Gen1 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor | (unassigned) |
| Living Room Gen1 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor | (unassigned) |
| Media Room Gen1 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor | (unassigned) |
| Outdoor1 Gen2 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor Gen2 | (unassigned) |
| Outdoor2 Gen2 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor Gen2 | (unassigned) |
| Outdoor3 Gen2 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor Gen2 | (unassigned) |
| Generic Gen2 Soil Sensor | Third Reality | Smart Soil Moisture Sensor Gen2 | (unassigned) |
| Living Room 4 Button Switch | Tuya | Wireless 4-button switch | Living Room |
| Christmas Lights Living Room | Third Reality | Zigbee/BLE smart plug | (unassigned) |
| Upstairs Hallway Switch | Third Reality | Zigbee/BLE smart plug | (unassigned) |

**Bridge entities:**
- `switch.zigbee2mqtt_bridge_permit_join` — enable Zigbee device pairing
- `binary_sensor.zigbee2mqtt_bridge_connection_state`
- `sensor.zigbee2mqtt_bridge_signal_level` (Bar Shelves sensor)

### Soil Sensors

Third Reality soil moisture sensors are the backbone of the **Plants dashboard**. They report temperature, humidity, and soil moisture levels.

| Sensor | Generation | IEEE |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom Gen1 | Gen1 (3RSM0147Z) | `0xffffb40e0605ce4d` |
| Living Room Gen1 | Gen1 (3RSM0147Z) | `0xffffb40e0605cc50` |
| Media Room Gen1 | Gen1 (3RSM0147Z) | `0xffffb40e0605e062` |
| Outdoor1 Gen2 | Gen2 | `0x7c3e82d6dc780000` |
| Outdoor2 Gen2 | Gen2 | `0x7c3e82d6f52a0000` |
| Outdoor3 Gen2 | Gen2 | `0x7c3e82d716ef0000` |
| Generic Gen2 | Gen2 | `0x7c3e82d6f3ff0000` |

> These sensors also have ZHA registrations (Soil Sensor 1, 2, 3) — this is because the same coordinator serves both Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA paths, but ZHA is disabled. The ZHA sensor entities may appear but are likely inactive.

## ZHA (Disabled)

ZHA is configured but **disabled by the user** (`disabled_by: user`). The original entry `01KGV9QD6568DF9P3S4JQE53X8` (HA Connect ZBT-1) is not loaded.

A second ZHA entry for the ZBT-2 (`homeassistant_connect_zbt2` hardware integration) is loaded but only provides the hardware device — Zigbee traffic goes through Zigbee2MQTT.

## Notes / Gotchas

- Do not enable ZHA while Zigbee2MQTT is active — both cannot share the same coordinator simultaneously.
- The `permit_join` switch should be turned off when not actively pairing devices (security best practice).
- Third Reality Gen1 soil sensors (3RSM0147Z) appear in both ZHA device registry (paired historically) and Zigbee2MQTT — the active entities are the Zigbee2MQTT ones.
- Upstairs Hallway Switch (Third Reality Zigbee plug) acts as a Zigbee mesh router, extending coverage to the 3rd floor.
- Christmas Lights Living Room (Third Reality plug) is seasonal and may be physically disconnected.

# Monitoring Stack — InfluxDB, Grafana, AdGuard, NUT

## Overview

Long-term monitoring uses the **InfluxDB + Grafana** stack for time-series storage and visualization, complemented by **AdGuard Home** for DNS query analytics and **NUT** for UPS status.

---

## InfluxDB

**Add-on:** a0d7b954_influxdb v5.0.2 | **State:** running

InfluxDB stores long-term time-series sensor data from Home Assistant. HA's built-in recorder uses SQLite/PostgreSQL for short-term history; InfluxDB provides the long-term archive.

**Use cases:**
- Energy consumption history (Emporia Vue circuits)
- Climate and temperature trends (ecobee, Aqara, Govee sensors)
- Motion event frequency
- UPS load and battery history

**Configuration:** InfluxDB integration is configured via HA's `configuration.yaml` or through the add-on's web UI.

---

## Grafana

**Add-on:** a0d7b954_grafana v12.1.0 | **State:** running

Grafana provides visualization dashboards on top of InfluxDB data.

**Typical dashboards:**
- Whole-home energy (Cornell Vue — `sensor.cornell_vue_energy_today`)
- Per-circuit power (kitchen appliances, HVAC, floors)
- Temperature/humidity trends per room
- AdGuard DNS query statistics
- UPS status over time

> Grafana is accessible on the HA host at port 3000 (or configured reverse proxy path). Not directly integrated into HA Lovelace.

---

## AdGuard Home

**Add-on:** a0d7b954_adguard v6.2.0 | **Integration:** adguard | **Area:** Office

Network-wide DNS-based ad and tracker blocking. All LAN DNS queries are routed through AdGuard.

**HA entities:**
- `sensor.adguard_home_dns_queries_blocked_ratio` — shows % of queries blocked
- Protection, filtering, parental control, safe search switches

**Dashboard:** AdGuard Home has its own web UI accessible on the LAN.

---

## Network UPS Tools (NUT)

**Add-on:** a0d7b954_nut v0.18.0 | **Integration:** nut | **UPS:** CPS CP1500AVRLCDa | **Area:** Media Room

Monitors the APC-compatible CPS UPS protecting the Media Room AV equipment.

**Key entities:**

| Entity | Notes |
|---|---|
| `sensor.media_room_ups_load` | % of UPS capacity in use |
| `sensor.media_room_ups_battery_charge` | Battery charge % |
| `sensor.media_room_ups_battery_runtime` | Estimated runtime on battery |
| `sensor.media_room_ups_input_voltage` | AC input voltage |
| `sensor.media_room_ups_output_voltage` | UPS output voltage |
| `sensor.media_room_ups_status` | Online / On Battery / Bypass |

**Automation:** `UPS Power Outage Notification` triggers when status → On Battery.

---

## Uptime & SpeedTest

| Integration | Entity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Uptime | `sensor.uptime` | HA instance continuous uptime |
| SpeedTest | `sensor.speedtest_download` / `sensor.speedtest_upload` | Periodic internet speed tests |

Both are assigned to the Office area.

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- InfluxDB must be configured in HA settings to forward sensor data — confirm the `influxdb:` component is active in configuration.yaml.
- Grafana dashboards are independent of HA Lovelace — they require a separate login (unless SSO is configured).
- The CPS UPS shows as "CP1500AVRLCDa" in NUT — this is compatible with most APC-format NUT drivers.

# Voice Pipeline

## Overview

The home runs a fully local, cloud-independent voice pipeline using HA's Assist framework. The pipeline is anchored by a **Home Assistant Voice PE** device in the Bedroom and composed of four add-on components. An Ollama LLM provides conversational AI beyond basic HA commands.

---

## Pipeline Components

### 1. Wake Word — openWakeWord

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Add-on | core_openwakeword v2.1.0 |
| Protocol | Wyoming |
| Entity | `wake_word.openwakeword` |
| Purpose | Passively listens for wake phrase on the HA Voice PE microphone |

### 2. Speech-to-Text

Two local STT options:

| Option | Add-on | Version | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Speech-to-Phrase** | core_speech-to-phrase | 1.4.3 | Fast home control commands |
| **Whisper** | core_whisper | 3.2.0 | Free-form speech, better accuracy |
| HA Cloud | — | — | Fallback cloud STT |

**Recommendation:** Use Speech-to-Phrase as primary for HA commands — it's significantly faster than Whisper for intent-matched phrases.

### 3. Conversation / Intent Processing

| Option | Entity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| **Home Assistant** | `conversation.home_assistant` | Built-in intent matching for HA commands |
| **Ollama** | `conversation.ollama_conversation` | Local LLM (qwen3:4b-instruct at 192.168.1.85:11434) |

### 4. Text-to-Speech

| Option | Add-on | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Piper** | core_piper | 2.2.2 | Local neural TTS (offline) |
| Google Translate | — | — | Cloud TTS (requires internet) |
| HA Cloud | — | — | Nabu Casa cloud TTS |

---

## Hardware — HA Voice PE

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Device | Home Assistant Voice 0919e8 |
| Model | Home Assistant Voice PE |
| Manufacturer | Nabu Casa |
| Firmware | ESPHome 2026.3.2 |
| Area | Bedroom |

The Voice PE connects to HA via the ESPHome integration over local LAN.

**Controls:**
- Physical button on device
- LED ring (color/pattern indicates pipeline state)
- Mute switch
- Wake sound toggle
- Pipeline selector (`select.home_assistant_voice_0919e8_assistant_2`)

---

## Conversation Pipelines

HA supports multiple named pipelines. The Voice PE's `assistant_2` select entity allows switching between pipelines at runtime.

**Typical pipelines:**
1. **Default** — Speech-to-Phrase → Home Assistant Assist → Piper
2. **LLM** — Whisper → Ollama → Piper
3. **Cloud** — HA Cloud STT → HA Cloud TTS

---

## Announcement Targets

Beyond the Voice PE, TTS announcements can be pushed to any `media_player` entity. Key announcement targets:

| Target | Entity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HA Voice PE | `media_player.home_assistant_voice_0919e8` | Primary |
| Bedroom Echo Show 5 | `media_player.bedroom` | Alexa |
| VLC | `media_player.vlc_telnet` | Local fallback |
| Everywhere (MA group) | `media_player.everywhere` | All speakers |

---

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Ollama server runs on a separate machine at `192.168.1.85:11434`. If that machine is off, the Ollama conversation agent will be unavailable — HA Assist built-in handles fallback.
- Whisper model size affects accuracy vs. speed. Check the Whisper add-on configuration for the selected model (tiny/base/small/medium).
- Speech-to-Phrase requires a custom vocabulary configuration to recognize non-standard commands — check add-on settings for custom phrase lists.
- The Voice PE LED ring color indicates pipeline state: idle (off/dim), listening (blue), processing (yellow), error (red) — exact colors depend on ESPHome firmware version.

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Home View dashboard is admin-only — non-admin Lovelace users will not see it in the sidebar.
- WebRTC camera cards (using the WebRTC Camera HACS integration by AlexxIT) provide low-latency live views; they require go2rtc to be running.
- The Plants dashboard data is only as accurate as the automation-populated helpers — if an irrigation cycle is manually interrupted before completion, the last run duration may be incorrect.
- Weather Chart Card uses the Met.no `Forecast Home` weather entity.

# Irrigation Tracking Automations

## Overview

4 automations track watering activity for the 4 front yard irrigation zones. Each automation captures the last watered timestamp and run duration into helper entities whenever a zone completes a watering cycle.

---

## How It Works

When the Orbit BHyve timer completes a watering cycle for a zone, the corresponding automation:
1. Records the completion time into `input_datetime.*_last_watered`
2. Records the run duration into `input_number.*_last_run_duration` (in minutes)

This data feeds the **Plants dashboard** and provides watering history for each garden zone.

---

## Track Front Planters Watering

**Entity:** `automation.track_front_planters_watering` | **State:** on

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Trigger | `valve.front_yard_tap_timer_front_planters_zone` → closed (cycle complete) |
| Actions | Set `input_datetime.front_planters_last_watered` = now |
| | Set `input_number.front_planters_last_run_duration` = elapsed minutes |

---

## Track Front Yard Shrubs Watering

**Entity:** `automation.track_front_yard_shrubs_watering` | **State:** on

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Trigger | `valve.front_yard_tap_timer_front_yard_shrubs_zone` → closed |
| Actions | Set `input_datetime.front_yard_shrubs_last_watered` = now |
| | Set `input_number.front_yard_shrubs_last_run_duration` = elapsed minutes |

---

## Track Front Fence Planters Watering

**Entity:** `automation.track_front_fence_planters_watering` | **State:** on

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Trigger | `valve.front_yard_tap_timer_front_fence_planters_zone` → closed |
| Actions | Set `input_datetime.front_fence_planters_last_watered` = now |
| | Set `input_number.front_fence_planters_last_run_duration` = elapsed minutes |

---

## Track Side Yard Garden Bed Watering

**Entity:** `automation.track_side_yard_garden_bed_watering` | **State:** on

| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Trigger | `valve.front_yard_tap_timer_side_yard_garden_bed_zone` → closed |
| Actions | Set `input_datetime.side_yard_garden_bed_last_watered` = now |
| | Set `input_number.side_yard_garden_bed_last_run_duration` = elapsed minutes |

---

## Related Helpers

| Helper | Type | Zone |
|---|---|---|
| `input_datetime.front_planters_last_watered` | Date/Time | Front Planters |
| `input_number.front_planters_last_run_duration` | Number (min, 0–480) | Front Planters |
| `input_datetime.front_yard_shrubs_last_watered` | Date/Time | Front Yard Shrubs |
| `input_number.front_yard_shrubs_last_run_duration` | Number (min, 0–480) | Front Yard Shrubs |
| `input_datetime.front_fence_planters_last_watered` | Date/Time | Front Fence Planters |
| `input_number.front_fence_planters_last_run_duration` | Number (min, 0–480) | Front Fence Planters |
| `input_datetime.side_yard_garden_bed_last_watered` | Date/Time | Side Yard Garden Bed |
| `input_number.side_yard_garden_bed_last_run_duration` | Number (min, 0–480) | Side Yard Garden Bed |

---

## Notes

- These automations only run when a valve closes (cycle completion). They do not handle manually interrupted cycles.
- Duration up to 480 minutes is supported (8 hours max per the input_number configuration).
- Last watered timestamps shown in the Plants dashboard use these helpers as the data source.

| Govee H5075 0409 | Temperature, Humidity | govee_ble (Bluetooth) |
| Govee H5075 9768 | Temperature, Humidity | govee_ble (Bluetooth) |

Both sensors use BLE and connect via the Realtek Bluetooth radio on the HA host.

## Energy Monitoring

| Device | Notes |
|---|---|
| Bar Sign (KP125M) | Individual energy monitoring |
| Bar Shelves (KP125M) | Individual energy monitoring |

## Notes / Gotchas

- Govee Cloud integration (`govee`) has a pending HACS update (v2026.6.20) requiring restart. Govee BLE sensors (`govee_ble`) are unaffected.
- Bar Shelves is registered under `living_room` area in HA — this is a known assignment discrepancy.
- The Govee H5075 sensors connect via Bluetooth, so they require the HA host Bluetooth radio to be active. Range can be an issue if the bar is far from the HA hardware.
- The `Bar Sign Overloaded` binary sensor provides protection status from the KP125M.

All zones currently: **closed**

### Watering Programs (Switch entities)

| Program | Notes |
|---|---|
| Front Yard Shrubs smart watering | Smart schedule |
| Side Yard Garden Bed smart watering | Smart schedule |
| Front Planters smart watering | Smart schedule |
| Front Fence Planters moist program | Moisture-based |

|---|---|
| Front Yard Tap Timer Next watering | Sensor showing next scheduled run |
| Front Yard Tap Timer Fault | Binary sensor |
| Front Yard Vehicle | Binary sensor (Reolink AI) |
| Bhyve Hub Connected | Binary sensor |

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Plants dashboard is linked to soil sensor data from the Zigbee2MQTT-based Third Reality Gen2 soil sensors (Outdoor1, Outdoor2, Outdoor3 Gen2) — these are currently unassigned to a specific area but physically in the front yard garden.
- The `bhyve` integration was recently added (entry ID: `01K3V102B7MY0TPYPRP67G7M15`). Ensure the Bhyve Hub stays connected.
- Watering duration helpers store data from HA automations — they are the source of truth for the Plants dashboard watering history.

| Garage (MA) | Music Assistant group player |

## Notes / Gotchas

- The `ratgdov2.5i` ESPHome device has no HA area assigned in the device registry — entities are correctly assigned to `garage` area but the parent device shows `area_id: null`.
- Two separate Garage Smart Lock entities exist: one via Matter (Aqara Smart Lock U100) and the `ratgdov2.5i e4d21f Lock remotes` (which controls RATGDO's remote access, not the door lock itself).
- The Reolink Driveway camera uses the `reolink` native integration (not RTSP-only) — this provides full motion detection, AI detection, siren, and floodlight control.

| Fridge | Individual circuit |
| Kitchen Plugs | Counter plug strip |
| Kitchen Plug | Single outlet |
| Dishwasher | Individual circuit |

> The Kitchen has the most granular energy monitoring in the home — 7 separate Emporia Vue circuits covering every major appliance.

## Notes / Gotchas

- `smartthinq_sensors` is in `setup_retry` status — LG appliance data may be stale or unavailable until the add-on is updated and HA is restarted.
- The `ge_home` integration requires a restart after the pending HACS update.
- The Kitchen Smart Lock (Aqara U100) is bridged via the Aqara Hub M2 (Matter). If the Hub M2 goes offline, the lock entity becomes unavailable — but the physical lock still works mechanically.
- `Kitchen Cabinet Pico` has no floor assignment (area_id: null) — this is a cosmetic registration issue; the device is physically in the kitchen.

- **Washer:** TOWER_WASHER (F3S1CWK__-FL) — firmware clip_hna_v1.9.226
- **Dryer:** TOWER_DRYER (W3S1CVK2EVS_D_US) — firmware clip_hna_v1.9.226
- Integration: `smartthinq_sensors` (HACS) — currently in `setup_retry`
- Entities include: Dry level (sensor), wash/dry mode selectors, run state

> **Note:** `smartthinq_sensors` has a pending HACS update (v0.43.0) and is in `setup_retry` — washer/dryer entities may be unavailable until updated and HA restarted.

## Energy Monitoring (Emporia Vue)

| Circuit | Notes |
|---|---|
| Washer | Individual circuit monitoring |
| Dryer | Individual circuit monitoring |

## Notes / Gotchas

- The `smartthinq_sensors` integration needs a restart after the pending HACS update (v0.43.0). Until then, LG appliance sensors may be unavailable.
- Emporia Vue circuits for washer/dryer provide power monitoring independently of SmartThinQ — even if SmartThinQ fails, energy data continues.

| Main Floor Lights | Lighting circuits |

## Presence / Sensors

| Entity | Notes |
|---|---|
| Living Room Occupancy | Binary sensor (ecobee room sensor) |

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Samsung Frame 55 is registered three times in HA (SamsungTV Smart, native SamsungTV via zeroconf, and SmartThings). The `samsungtv_smart` entry (`c5aba40a`) is the primary control path with full feature support.
- The 4-button Tuya scene switch (ZHA) and the Zigbee2MQTT version of the same device (`Living Room 4 Button Switch`) are separate device registrations — they represent the same physical device bridged through different Zigbee paths.
- Bar Shelves (KP125M) has energy monitoring — useful for tracking bar/accent light power draw.

## Notes / Gotchas

- Both KS205 switches support auto-off timers — the `Bathroom Shower Switch Turn off in` number entity sets the auto-off duration.
- These switches do not currently have automation coverage — they are manually controlled or scheduled.

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Lutron SmartBridge 2 (`0024fcfce6e52a4465c4fbadc16d4ef2`) is assigned to the Media Room but serves as the hub for ALL Lutron Caseta devices in the whole home.
- BRAVIA 4K UR2 appears multiple times in device registry: Cast, AndroidTV Remote, DLNA DMR, and Music Assistant — each integration sees it separately.
- The `letpot` integration is in `setup_retry` — LetPot plant lights may intermittently drop.
- VLC-TELNET provides a local audio output target for TTS and Music Assistant.

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Xerox B205 printer (`ipp` integration) is in `setup_retry` — likely an intermittent network connection issue. Check that the printer IP is static/reserved.
- Govee Cloud Integration gateway device is registered to the Office area, but actual Govee lights (Bar Bulbs, UnderBar Lights) are in the Bar area.

# Patio

## Overview

The Patio is a small outdoor entertaining area on the Ground Floor with 12 entities. It has a TP-Link KS205 switch (Porch light), a Lutron pendant dimmer, and a few associated switches.

**Entity count:** 12 | **Floor:** Ground Floor

## Devices

| Device | Manufacturer | Model | Integration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Porch | TP-Link | KS205 | tplink + switch_as_x |
| Living Room Pendants | Lutron | DVRF-6L (DivaSmartDimmer) | lutron_caseta |

## Lighting

| Entity | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Porch | TP-Link KS205 → light (switch_as_x) | Porch/patio light; auto-off capable |
| Living Room Pendants | Lutron dimmer | Patio-adjacent pendant lights |

**TP-Link Porch features:**
- `Porch Auto-off enabled` — timed auto-off
- `Porch Auto-update enabled`
- `Porch LED` — status indicator

## Notes / Gotchas

- "Living Room Pendants" (Lutron) is registered under the `patio` area_id — this is because these pendants are physically on the patio side of the living/patio space.
- The Porch KS205 is exposed as both a `switch` and a `light` via the `switch_as_x` integration (entry ID: `01KGVC6667EY13D9V1M4F47RN2`).

**Automation:** `Link hallway lights to upstairs when turning on lights` — coordinates 2nd and 3rd floor hallway lights.

## Notes / Gotchas

- The Upstairs Hallway Switch (Third Reality Zigbee plug) via Zigbee2MQTT acts as a Zigbee mesh router in addition to its switch function — helps extend Zigbee coverage to the 3rd floor.
