Matter & Aqara

Overview
Matter is handled by the Matter Server add-on (v9.0.2). The Aqara ecosystem provides the majority of Matter-bridged devices — two hubs bridge 15+ Aqara devices (water leak sensors, motion sensors, smart locks, wireless switch, temp/humidity sensor) into Home Assistant.

Thread
The Thread integration is loaded (entry: 
890ec7b4) and supports Thread networking. The Aqara hubs function as Thread border routers, enabling Thread-based device connectivity in future expansions.
Notes / Gotchas
If either Aqara hub goes offline, all devices bridged through it become unavailable in HA. The Hub M2 and Hub G3 are both critical infrastructure.
The 4 unassigned water leak sensors should be physically labelled and area-assigned in HA (Settings → Devices) to improve observability.
Kitchen Smart Lock shows 
sw v300 while Garage Smart Lock shows 
sw v31 — different firmware tracks (U100 has multiple hardware revisions).
